The government of Senegal showcased how these activities support the implementation of their NDC goals.

  • Harnessing Synergies between Market Mechanisms and Climate Finance

    This side event presented a project to pilot replicable climate financing models in Africa, drawing on ongoing experiences in Ethiopia, Senegal and Uganda. The pipeline of activities under the CDM was assessed regarding the feasibility of mobilizing international climate financing and projects that are to be brought into the pipelines of these institutions. Partner governments showcased how these activities help to implement the NDCs currently under revision.

  • Operationalizing Article 6 of the Paris Agreement

    Two-day event which brought together over 40 West African Alliance country representatives and its strategic partners. While the workshop covered a broad spectrum of topics, two issues stood out in particular: the need to foster the debate on operationalizing Article 6 at member country level and the question how to connect private sector initiatives under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and voluntary carbon markets with the countries’ national aspirations under the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
